Almost finished my rough draft for my 2nd novel! I have major cutting/polishing to get started on after this final chapter! Whodunits are challenging! I have to count for my killer to be placed at the same locations as my victims! I had fun writing it!! Hope to send this one off after the new year! I have yet to receive my big shipment of Sudden Moves from Trafford. Outskirts Press is moving along quickly for the 2nd publication! I may use them for my 2nd novel if all goes well!

The first week of November, the book will be available on www.trafford.com and other retailers will have it by the end of 2010. The price is the same on both sites. I have been off work this week and have been making great progress on my new book. There is no title yet, but hope to get this one out next year. Very excited and hope everyone enjoys the book!
The book is done! I hope to have my shipment in a week or two. I get my first complimentary copy in a week and it's supposed to be available on the Trafford website. It will be for sale through retailers in 8-10 weeks. This will be a surprise to my family since I haven't told them about it. I want to surpise my mom and dad. The book can be purchased through the Trafford site or any retailer (Barnes and Noble, Amazon, etc). I am so excited! Trafford is excellent since it only took a month for this book to be published. Outskirts Press was supposed to publish this also, but they have been sitting on it for two weeks! One of the top self publishers - nice, huh? I will continue to go through Trafford with this track record of both publishers, my only change will be to sign up for the editing service up front. I failed to do that this time and my book has some errors. I hope it's still enjoyed! It's a very moving thriller!
My novel has moved into the design stage. This means I am waiting to approve the title and the back cover as well as the design. I hope this comes out good. I don't wanna delay my book any more than 3 months.
Now with my rough draft finished and most of my novel polished, I'm looking into self publishing. I looked into Trafford Publishing and I have up to a year to send in my manuscript. September has 30% off savings and the month is coming to an end soon. I am still plugging away at my novel writing class, working ahead, and I plan on finishing it. Decisions, decisions. I'm very excited and even have an idea for the cover. I may take the plunge and go for it. I would have hardcover and paperback editions in this package I'm looking at. Any comments?
I just ordered The Writer's Toolbox from Amazon and I am really pleased with it. There are games with cards and a spinning wheel to get new ideas going. I love writing on the spot after reading a word or a sentence, so I can't wait to tear into it! I am now working on descriptions through my novel. I have to use the five senses which is hard to do. I am trying my best to be more observant through the day, then write about it later that night. I have a journal started, now I just need to take the time to do it!
I have never finished a first draft of a novel in my life!! I always gave up on an idea when it got stale or just sat there, not wanting to take off. I almost did that this time, but with the help of some post office retirees reading it, it kept me going. I also found the gem of the story which was putting a dead body in it. I am now tweaking it here and there and adding description. I would really like to see this book take off. I don't know if it will, but I refuse to self publish. Usually that means nobody else would publish it. My online novel class is going well and I'm learning alot! Hope to have it polished by winter!!!
I got my subject with the help of my dad. I decided to go ahead and write about animals. I learned that my dad had dogs and even found a stray dog and brought him home on his bike. He walked the bike up Farmington Rd hill with the dog in his basket! This bike cost $9 back then also. My grandmother who was born in 1896 rode a horse to school, let him graze in the field while she was in class, then got back on him to ride him home! Wow have the times changed! What would kids today do in a world like that? Gripe about not having a cell phone probably!! I was happy to learn more about my dad's family since I had no idea about the things he told me. My grandfather worked in a coal mine, walked to work 4 miles and made 50 cents a day. That was voluntary from my dad's story telling. I just hope I can tackle this assignment and come out with good comments from my instructor. This will be the challenging one!
Now I never have trouble with a writing assignment. Well guess what? Now I do! We have to "research" our history of our family and interview family members. I'm not close to any of my family. My sister doesn't talk to me, my brother is all about joking around, and my parents don't like talking about them being married years ago. My grandmothers are both deceased so I'm in a bind. My mom's mother grew up in an orphanage and was really poor. My dad's mother was also poor. Nothing happy came from our history so I hate writing about a big downer like that. I may either skip this assignment or just send in something referring to me growing up. My family always had a soft spot for stray animals, as well as I do now so that could be something. I need suggestions bad!
I love my days off and the PO is making me work next week. I already expected this since my relief is on vacation. I love my own time on Friday mornings such as this one. I get my writing and journaling done and don't stress out like I do during my work days. I am on my third assignment for my writing workshop - working ahead! I want to keep doing that but with the overtime and my treasury job, it can get tough to find the time. I love my Friday mornings to myself and I don't plan on going anywhere! Everything else can sit and wait on me!!
